Real client use case

We run a regression pack of 70 test cases against both Apple and Android devices covering both mobile phones and tables. This is for an ecommerce app and equates to 250 executions across this device landscape. In parallel we run an exploratory against the apps which achieves 200 device/ software combinations, with circa 200 testers providing 40 work days of testing effort within a 12 hour test window. These test runs are normally kicked off on a Thursday afternoon which allows us to supply the results and report by 1pm on a Friday. If anything critical is found, we let the client know straight away and discuss directly with the product owner and development team to ensure prompt understanding so we can plan the best way forward.
